Mr Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India launched Dr Ambedkar Scheme for Social Integration through Inter-Caste Marriages. The Social Justice & Empowerment Ministry of the Indian Government is authorised to check this scheme. Either they or the head of Dr Ambedkar Foundation holds the final say to make amendments.
Dr Ambedkar was an ardent advocate for Dalits. The undelivered speech that he wrote in the year 1936 clearly pictures the disagreements against such injustice systems. He clearly outcried the propaganda of eradicating caste-related matters. Dr Ambedkar Foundation Marriage Scheme Main Objective
The objective of the scheme is to appreciate the socially bold step, of an Inter-caste marriage, taken by the newly married couple and to extend financial incentive to the couple to enable them to settle down in the initial phase of their married life. It is clarified that it should not be construed as a supplementary scheme to an employment generation or poverty alleviation scheme.

- An Inter-caste marriage, for the purpose of this Scheme means a marriage in which one of the spouses belongs to Scheduled Caste and the other belongs to a Non-Scheduled Caste.
- The marriage should be valid as per the law and duly registered under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. An affidavit of their being legally married and in matrimonial alliance would be submitted by the couple.
- No incentive is available on second or subsequent marriage.
- Proposal would be treated as valid if submitted within one year of marriage.
- It shall be the discretion of the Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment & Chairman of Dr. Ambedkar Foundation to sanction the incentive to the Couple.
- Submission of false/ fabricated information to the competent authority would be punishable as per law in force.
Required Documents
- The Certificate that one of the spouse belongs to Scheduled Caste Community.
- The Marriage Certificate duly registered under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955.
- The Caste Certificate issued by the Competent Authorities in respect of the bride and bridegroom.
- The application should be within one year of marriage.
- A certificate to the effect that it is the first marriage of both bride and bridegroom.
- The income certificate of the both husband and wife issued by competent authority.
How to Apply for Dr Ambedkar Foundation Marriage Scheme
1. The complete application, along with a recommendation from a current Member of Parliament or Member of Legislative Assembly, should be directly submitted to the Dr Ambedkar Foundation.
2. Before forwarding the application to the Dr Ambedkar Foundation, the state Government or District Administration should furnish their recommendation, which will accompany the application.
3. All complete applications are thoroughly reviewed and submitted to the Chairman of the Dr Ambedkar Foundation and the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment for further processing.
4. Upon approval, the total amount of Rs 2.50 lakhs will be transferred to the beneficiary through Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS).
