Jagananna Jeeva Kranthi Scheme:Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday virtually launched ‘Jagananna Jeeva Kranthi’ scheme, under which 2.49 lakh units of sheep and goats will be distributed to women in a phased manner at a cost of ₹1,869 crore.Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the scheme aims at improving the living standards of women with less investment. By promoting the agricultural allied sectors, more economic development would take place and eventually benefit farmers.
Under the scheme, women belonging to the Backward Classes, the Scheduled Castes (SCs), and the Scheduled Tribes (STs) in the age group of 45-60 years would get 2.49 lakh sheep and goat units. Each unit consists of 15 sheep or goats (with one ram or billy) in each unit. The State would facilitate and provide suggestions, in case the women want to buy the sheep and goats on their own.

In this scheme, the women of the Andhra Pradesh state will be getting sheep and goats to provide themselves with a good livelihood. The government will be spending around Rupees 1868.63 crore in this scheme. YSR Government will provide around 2.49 lakh sheep and goats units to all of the population. Each unit of sheep and goats will contain either 14 sheep or goats.

Objective Of Jagananna Jeeva Kranthi Yojana :
The primary goal of introducing the Jagananna Jeeva Kranthi Scheme is to foster partnerships and create business opportunities for individuals aspiring for self-reliance. This initiative offers diverse opportunities for women in backward categories, leading to an increase in job prospects. Additionally, 31 lakh housing sites are allocated to women and will be registered in their names. Women can purchase local sheep and goats from their respective regions, with guidance from a committee comprising two veterinary doctors, SERP officials, and bank representatives, ensuring they select suitable units at reasonable prices.
Eligibility Criteria Jagananna Jeeva Kranthi Yojana :
The applicant must follow the following eligibility criteria to apply for the scheme:-
- The applicant must only be a women
- An applicant must be above the age of 45 years
- The applicant must be below the age of 60 years
- The applicant must belong to one of the following categories:-
- Backward Classes (BC)
- Scheduled Castes (SC)
- Scheduled Tribes (ST)
- Minority communities

- Macharla Brown
- Vizianagaram breeds
- Black Bengal in goats
- Native breeds
Implementation Procedure Of Jagananna Jeeva Kranthi Scheme :
The scheme will implement in the following three stages:-
- In Phase 1, the distribution of 20,000 units will begin till March 2024
- Phase two will conclude the distribution of 130000 units in the second installment from April to August 2024.
- The third and last installment will begin in September with the distribution of 99000 units and will conclude in December 2024.
