The ministry of education is set to organise “Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ke Liye” in higher educational institutions across the country to ensure universal enlightened participation of youth in elections till March 6.Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan urged the youth of the nation to make their voices heard as he highlighted PM Narendra Modi’s clarion call to the youth and first-time voters to exercise their franchise in large numbers.
He informed that he had directed all HEIs in the country to conduct comprehensive voter awareness activities at their campuses, to galvanize the ‘Yuva Shakti’, emphasize to them the value of voting, making informed choices, and participating in electoral processes for a more representative democracy.The initiative symbolizes the importance of Elections and the pride of voting in the largest democracy in the world.
Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ke Liye Pledge Registration
A comprehensive Voter Awareness campaign – Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ke Liye is being organised in different Higher Educational institutions across the country to ensure universal enlightened participation of youth in elections. The main objective of the initiative is to engage and encourage young voters to come out and vote and to convey the importance of voting for the larger good of the nation. The Campaign – Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ke Liye, which started yesterday will continue till the 6th of next month.
Talking to Akashvani News, University Grant Commission, UGC Chairman Jagadesh Kumar said, UGC has sent a letter to all higher education institutions to start this Voter Awareness Campaign. He has requested all the higher education institutions to conduct Webinars and seminars to create awareness among the youth.

The Education Ministry and the Information and Broadcasting Ministry on February 27 jointly launched a nationwide awareness campaign “Mera pehla vote desh ke liye (my first vote for the country)”, under which various events will be organised in universities, colleges, and higher education institutions to encourage the first-time voters to participate in the upcoming election.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has today issued a clarion call towards making the electoral process more participative and invited people from all walks of life to spread the message of “Mera pehla vote desh ke liye” campaign in their own style among first-time voters.
Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must be a permanent resident of India.
- The applicant must be above the age of 18 years.
- The applicant must be eligible to vote in the Lok Sabha election.
