cbse class 12 evaluation transparency:CBSE issues official clarification on Class 12 Result 2026 controversy, defends OSM evaluation system, and announces re-evaluation process details. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an official statement over the controversy surrounding the Class 12 Result 2026 and the On-Screen Marking (OSM) evaluation system.
The clarification came after students, parents, and teachers raised concerns on social media regarding unexpectedly low marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics. Some students also claimed that despite qualifying competitive exams like JEE, they failed in CBSE board exams. Defending the digital evaluation process, CBSE said the OSM system ensures transparency, fairness, and consistency in marking. The board will begin the CBSE 12th re-evaluation process from May 19, 2026.
CBSE Class 12 Evaluation Issues 2026
CBSE has opened its online portal for Class 12 students who are unsatisfied with their 2026 board exam results. Students can now apply for a scanned copy of their answer sheets, request a verification of marks, or ask for a complete re-evaluation of specific answers. The entire process is strictly online, with deadlines running from May 19 to May 29, 2026.
Getting your board exam results can be really upsetting. If you think your hard work is not showing in your CBSE Class 12 scorecard this year you should not get too sad. CBSE Class 12 has said it is starting its Post-Result Declaration Facilities for the 2025–26 session. This year CBSE Class 12 looked at all Class 12 papers on a computer using a system called On-Screen Marking to stop mistakes when adding up the scores.
However if you still think something is wrong CBSE Class 12 gives you the right to look at your answer sheet and say something is wrong, from your home. You can look at your answer sheet and challenge the evaluation of your CBSE Class 12 scorecard.

In its official statement shared through social media, CBSE clarified that the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system was introduced to make the evaluation process more transparent. According to the board, the digital checking process ensures that students are awarded step-wise marks properly and reduces the possibility of manual mistakes during assessment.
This year, the CBSE Class 12 pass percentage dropped to 85.2%, marking the lowest result performance in the last seven years. The board’s pass criteria clearly mention that students must secure at least 33% marks separately in theory and practical examinations to pass a subject.

CBSE Class 12 Re-Evaluation 2026: Important Rules to Apply
Before logging into the CBSE portal, make sure you understand these critical guidelines to avoid risking your current scores:
- You must pply for a scanned copy of your answer sheet in Stage 1 to be eligible for Stage 2 re-evaluation later. You cannot skip directly to challenging a question.
- You can apply for multiple subjects, but you must select all of them and make the payment in a single application. Once you submit the form, you cannot log back in to add another subject.
- Be 100% sure about your answers. If the examiner reviews your sheet and decides your marks should be lower, even a decrease of one mark will be made final, and your old scorecard will be cancelled.
- All payments must be made online via Credit Card, Debit Card, or Net Banking. Drafts, cheques, or cash sent to the CBSE office will be automatically rejected.
