Chakshu portal complaint Registration Form:The Department of Telecommunications has introduced a new facility for the people of India to report suspected fraud communications. The government has introduced a new Chakshu portal under its Sanchar Sathi initiative. The new portal aims to detect and prevent suspected fraud calls and messages. 

Union IT and Communication Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw says the new portal offers a “user-friendly platform that will help subscribers to promptly report any suspicious communication, whether be it a call, SMS or a WhatsApp message.” So, suppose you are wondering how to use this portal to safeguard yourself from potential fraudulent activities that happen through calls, messages, and more. What is the Chakshu Portal? 

The Chakshu portal is a new initiative by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to curb suspected fraud communications, simply put, cyber frauds. The feature is now available on the Sanchar Saathi website. People across the country can now report cyber frauds such as fake customer care helplines, bank accounts, payment wallets, gas connections, impersonation of government officials, etc. With the new Chakshu portal, users can report such cyber frauds through calls, SMS or even WhatsApp. 

Chakshu is the latest initiative by the government that aims to curb fraudulent activities plaguing mobile users in India. Created under Sanchar Sathi portal, this new platform enables Indians to report suspected fraud calls and messages such as lottery offers, job scams and phone number leaks by businesses.Chakshu portal is now live and citizens can now use it to report fraudulent activities happening.

Objectives of Chakshu Portal:

Nowadays, everyone does online transactions, some do online shopping and some do online business, so that all our data remains online. No one can steal our online data and no one can harm us by using it, that is why this portal has been started.

Chakshu facilitates citizens to report the suspected fraud communications with the intention of defrauding telecom service users for cyber-crime, financial frauds, non-bonafide purpose like impersonation or any other misuse through Call, SMS or WhatsApp.

Few examples of suspected fraud communications are communication related to Bank Account / Payment Wallet / SIM / Gas connection / Electricity connection / KYC update / expiry / deactivation, impersonation as Government official / relative, sextortion related etc.

Types of messages, frauds that Indians can report

The government highlights that the Chakshu portal is for reporting suspected fraud communications that aim to cheat users by means of cyber-crime, financial frauds as well as non-bonafide purposes like impersonation or any other misuse through Call, SMS or WhatsApp.

Users can register complaints about potential fraudulent calls related to: Bank accounts, payment wallet / SIM / gas connection / electricity connection / KYC update, expiry and deactivation, impersonation as government official or relative and sextortion, among others.

Steps to register a report using Chakshu Portal Complaint Registration Online

  • Visit “https://sancharsaathi.gov.in/sfc/”
  • On the next page, enter details asked, especially the one that has ‘*’ in front of it
  • Select ‘Medium of Suspected Fraud Communication’ — Call, SMS or WhatsApp
  • Select the category for the report, attach screenshot and also enter other details like date and time of the suspected fraud communication
  • Provide a detailed description of the fraud in the dedicated section
  • After this, enter your personal details like name and phone number
  • Next up, verify your number with OTP and submit the complaint

Note: If you have already lost money due to financial fraud or are a victim of cyber-crime, please report at cyber crime helpline number 1930 or website https://www.cybercrime.gov.in. Chakshu facility does not handle financial fraud or cyber-crime cases.
