Interested persons from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry can apply on the KTS portal – kashitamil.iitm.ac.in. The deadline to apply online is December 8, 2023. The second edition of this Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme is proposed to be held from December 17, 2023, the first day of the holy Tamil month of Margali, to December 30, 2023.

According to a press release by IIT Madras, people from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry who are interested in the second edition of this Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme can apply on the KTS portal (kashitamil.iitm.ac.in) by December 8, 2023.
The programme aims to revive the bond between Varanasi and Tamil Nadu which were important centres of learning and culture in ancient India. Phase 2 of the Kashi Tamil Sangamam will include an eight-day immersive tour to Varanasi, Prayagraj and Ayodhya and expects around 1,400 people from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry to travel to the destination by train, informed the press release.

Like its first edition, this programme proposes to take forward the objective of reviving the living bonds between Varanasi and Tamil Nadu – two important centres of learning and culture in ancient India – by facilitating people-to-people connect across different walks of life.
In Phase 2 of KTS, it is proposed that around 1,400 people from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will travel by train to Varanasi, Prayagraj and Ayodhya for an eight-day immersive tour, including the travel time. They will be divided into seven groups of around 200 each, comprising students, teachers, farmers, artisans, traders and businessmen besides religious, writers, professionals. Each group will be named after a sacred river such as Ganga, Yamuna, Saraswati, Sindhu, Narmada, Godavari and Cauvery.
Coordinating with other institutions in Tamil Nadu, IIT Madras will organise workshops, seminars and other outreach activities from December 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023, said the institute.Interested participants from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry can register for the Phase 2 of the Kashi Tamil Sangamam on the KTS portal which was launched by IIT Madras.
Eligibility Requirements for Kashi Tamil Registration Applications
- All registrants must have legal residency in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
- One may submit a Kashi Tamil Sangamam 2023 application if they are at least 18 years old and belong to one of the 12 previously described categories.
- When uploading the application to the online system, the Kashi Tamil Sangamam 2023 program representative must provide precise information on the Registration Form Online Eligibility and Events Date & Timing.
- The information on the Registration Form Online Eligibility and Events Date & Timing must correspond to the traveler’s identification document.
- Aadhar card ownership is mandatory.

Procedure to Submit Kashi Tamil Sangamam Registration Form
Those interested and who fall into one of the 12 categories outlined above must submit their applications online via the portal found at https://kashitamil.iitm.ac.in. The online-submitted application will be evaluated, and representatives for each group will be selected by a Committee formed specifically for this activity. The decision made by the Selection Committee is the only viable option.
