This year, the flagship event will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Chennai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating the opening ceremony of 6th Khelo India Youth Games in Chennai. The Games are being held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai from January 19 to 31. This is the first time that the Khelo India Youth Games are being held in South India. The Games will be played across four cities of Tamil Nadu, namely Chennai, Madurai, Trichy and Coimbatore.
Khelo India Youth Games 2024
The Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) is the flagship event under the government of India’s Khelo India initiative, which promotes sports at the grassroots levels in the country. Fans can watch KIYG 2024 on live streaming and live telecast in India.
More than 5,500 athletes from the 36 Indian states and Union Territories are set to compete at the 2024 Khelo India Youth Games. It is a team championship where each athlete from any state and Union Territory will contribute to the overall medal tally. When all the events are wrapped up, the team having the most number of medals will be adjudged the winner.

While a bulk of the events will be held in Chennai, Trichy will host gatka and kho kho while the mallakhamb and kalaripayattu events will be conducted in Madurai. Coimbatore, meanwhile, will have basketball and thag ta.
Khelo India Youth Games 2024 Eligibility Criteria :
- Sportspersons should be permanent citizens of India. So they should have a domicile in india.
- Then, the age of a sportsperson should be either under 17 or under 21.
- Because there are two category divisions made. So applicant can apply in these age criteria as per their age.
- Most importantly they should read all the rules and regulations given by the concerned department related to the Khelo India Youth Games.
