Rythu Bandhu Status: Objective
Through the implementation of the Rythu Bandhu scheme, the Government of Telangana is providing financial incentives to the farmers in order to improve their financial condition and make them self-dependent. Through this scheme, the farmers will get Rs 4000 per hectare of land along with many other benefits.
The Congress Government in Telangana which has promised to give recognition to tenant farmers under Rythu Bharosa, one of the six guarantees of the party, is now faced with challenges in the implementation of the promise as it has to take up the identification of tenant farmers of lands.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed officials to transfer Rythu Bandhu assistance of Rs 5,000 per acre for the rabi season into the bank accounts of all land-owning farmers from Monday. The decision was taken in the high-level meeting held by Revanth Reddy at the Secretariat on Monday.The meeting was attended by Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, Special Chief Secretary (Finance) K. Ramakrishna Rao, and Agriculture Secretary M. Raghunandan Rao.
In view of the urgency of the situation, with farmers requiring the aid quickly, the Congress government has decided to go ahead with Rythu Bandhu for this rabi season as there is not enough time to finalise guidelines to implement the Rythu Bharosa, as promised by the Congress during the election campaign, which covers more beneficiaries including tenant farmers and agriculture labourers.Rythu Bharosa also promised Rs 7,500 per acre per season, against Rs 5,000 under Rythu Bandhu.
Objective of Rythu Bharosa Scheme
According to the state government statistics, as many as 42 lakh farmers were identified as beneficiaries during the previous regime for the crop loan waiver.Similarly the grand old party promised to give Rs 15,000 to farmers and Rs 12,000 to farm workers under the “Rythu Bharosa” guarantee scheme per acre annually.Under the BRS government’s Rythu Bandhu, farmers were paid Rs 10,000 annually.
The previous BRS government has paid Rs 72,000 crore under a similar scheme as Rythu Bandhu during the past five and half years, with 70 lakh farmers benefitting. The latest installment could not be released due to poll code.
Telangana Rythu Bharosa Scheme Benefits
Some of the key benefits of the scheme are as follows:
- After the Congress party won Telangana, the Telangana Rythu Bharosa plan was put into place.
- The farmers will receive Rs. 15,000 per acre year under the arrangement.
- The purpose of this programme is to compensate the farmers for their cooperation with money.
- The annual compensation for farm labourers would be Rs. 12,000, with an additional bonus of Rs. 500 for paddy crop growers.
- Tenant farmers receive an annual salary of Rs. 15,000 and are individuals who rent land for farming purposes.
- The funding support will be deposited into Farmers’ bank accounts.
