DBT or Direct Benefit Transfer is a system through which government benefits are sent directly to a beneficiary’s bank account. For the Annapurna Bhandar scheme, beneficiaries must ensure that their Aadhaar number is linked with their bank account and that Aadhaar seeding is active.The West Bengal government has launched a verification and database-cleansing exercise for beneficiaries of the upcoming Annapurna Yojana, directing district administrations to complete the process before the scheme is rolled out on June 1, an official said on Friday.
According to official order issued by the Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Department, the exercise aims to identify and remove ineligible names from the beneficiary database and ensure proper authentication of genuine recipients.
The West Bengal government on May 19 notified the Annapurna Yojana financial assistance scheme for women, replacing the existing ‘Lakshmir Bhandar’ programme, for a monthly allowance of ₹3,000, which will take effect from June 1.
Without DBT activation, beneficiaries may not receive the monthly financial assistance under the scheme.

A separate order issued by the Block Development Officer of Swarupnagar in North 24 Parganas directed gram panchayat officials, gram rojgar sahayaks, nirman sahayaks and booth-level officers to carry out door-to-door verification of approved beneficiaries on a priority basis.
How to check DBT link status online
Beneficiaries can verify their Aadhaar-bank linking status through the official portal of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). First, visit the NPCI website and open the “Customer” section. From there, select the “Bharat Aadhaar Seeding Enabler (BASE)” option. On the next page, click on “Aadhaar Mapped Status”.
Users then need to enter their Aadhaar number and captcha code. After submitting the details, an OTP will be sent to the mobile number linked with Aadhaar. Once the OTP is verified, the portal displays whether any bank account is linked for DBT services.
Annapurna Yojana verification drive underway
The state government has also intensified preparations for the rollout of the Annapurna Yojana, a financial assistance scheme for women replacing the existing ‘Lakshmir Bhandar’ programme.
Under the scheme, eligible women between 25 and 60 years of age, who are not government employees, pensioners or income tax payers, will receive Rs 3,000 per month through Direct Benefit Transfer into Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.

According to the notification, all existing beneficiaries of the ‘Lakshmir Bhandar’ scheme will be migrated to the Annapurna Yojana, except those identified as ineligible due to categories including “dead, shifted, deleted and absentee electors identified during SIR- 2026, deletion in the second list after publication of draft list, deleted after adjudication, ASDD (Absent, Shifted, Dead, or Duplicate) found during voter slip distribution”.
A separate order from the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Swarupnagar in North 24 Parganas has instructed field officials including gram panchayat staff, gram rojgar sahayaks, nirman sahayaks and booth-level officers (BLOs) to conduct door-to-door verification of beneficiaries.
