It is an online portal to process refunds of depositors of four Sahara Group Co-operative Societies.As of now, not all investors are eligible to claim for a refund through this website.According to Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, the first payment of up to Rs 10,000 would be made through this portal to one crore investors who have deposited Rs 10,000 or more.

The Centre has started the process to refund ₹5,000 crore of depositors whose funds are struck in four cooperative societies of Sahara Group. Launching a ‘CRCS-Sahara Refund Portal’ to facilitate the refund, Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said: “The process of returning the amount of ₹5,000 crore to the investors is starting today in a transparent manner on a trial basis. This is the beginning of the refund of monies to the depositors (of Sahara Group)”. The portal has been developed by a subsidiary of IFCI.

CRCS Sahara Refund Portal Registration Link news: Sahara Refund Portal Registration Link is available on the ‘CRCS Sahara Refund Portal.While the process to apply for a claim on the Sahara Refund Portal is easy, not every eligible depositor may be able to do it on their own. More so because a large number of depositors of Sahara Group are living in rural areas and not every one of them may be familiar with the online application process.

In a statement dated July 19, the Ministry of Cooperation said more than 5.5 Lakh Common Service Centres spread all over the Country are providing more than 300 e-Services equipped with required facilities of Internet connectivity, Computer, Printer, Scanner etc. at their Centers.

Who are eligible for a refund through the CRCS Sahara Refund Portal?

The genuine and legitimate depositors of the following four Sahara Societies are eligible for a refund through the CRCS Sahara Refund Portal:

Humara India Credit Cooperative Society Limited, Kolkata.
b. Sahara Credit Cooperative Society Limited, Lucknow.
c. Saharayan Universal Multipurpose Society Limited, Bhopal.
d. Stars Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, Hyderabad.

What are the eligibility criteria for filing a claim on the CRCS Sahara Refund Portal?

For filing a claim request, the depositors must have made deposits and have outstanding dues receivable before the following dates:
March 22, 2022, for
a. Humara India Credit Cooperative Society Limited, Kolkata.
b. Sahara Credit Cooperative Society Limited, Lucknow.
c. Saharayan Universal Multipurpose Society Limited, Bhopal.
March 29, 2023, for:
a. Stars Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, Hyderabad.

To confirm their identity, depositors will be verified using their Aadhaar card. The Sahara Societies will verify their claims and uploaded documents. The payment to genuine depositors will be credited to their bank account within 45 days of filing their online claims, subject to fund availability, and they will be notified of the status via SMS, portal, according to the FAQs on the Sahara refund portal.

The CRCS Sahara Refund Portal has been launched following a Supreme Court order in March 2023, which allowed for the transfer of Rs 5000 crore from the Rs 24,979.67 crores lying in the ‘Sahara-SEBI Refund Account’ to the Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies. The SC order mandated the CRCS to disburse the amount against legitimate dues of the depositors of the Sahara Group of Cooperative Societies.

The SC order also mandated that the amount be paid to respective genuine depositors of the Sahara Group of Cooperative Societies out of the Rs 5000 crore at the earliest but not later than nine months from the date of the order i.e. March 29, 2023.
