Meta-owned platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, are currently facing technical issues, rendering them inaccessible for many users on Tuesday. The outage has impacted functionalities across these social media platforms.Meta owned Facebook and Instagram, both popular social media platforms facing disruptions. Users across the country are reporting that they are logged out and are not able to login to their accounts. Facebook Down and Instagram Down is also trending on X, formerly known as Twitter.
According to the Downdetector, an outage reporting platform, the outage is at peak at 8.59 PM with over 15,000 reports. Over 77 per cent of the application users have reported problem while 21 per cent users have reported the problem with the website.The Instagram Down was reported by over 18,000 users at 8.52 PM. Over 72 per cent users reported disruptions with the application, while over 20 per cent users reported problems with the login.
Facebook Instagram Down
Social media platforms Facebook and Instagram were down in India and many other parts of the world Tuesday evening. Users complained about log in issues on both these platforms. They were logged out of both Facebook and Instagram. Some were unable to refresh Instagram pages.
Outage tracking website Downdetector.com also revealed that Meta Platforms’ Facebook and Instagram were down for tens of thousands of users on Tuesday. There were more than 300,000 reports of outages for Facebook, while there were more than 20,000 reports for Instagram, according to the website which tracks outages by collating status reports from several sources, including users.
Login problems and feed refresh issues
Users are reporting various issues, such as being logged out of their Facebook accounts, making it impossible to log back in. Similarly, Instagram users are encountering difficulties refreshing their feeds, with stories and comments failing to load for some individuals. Threads, an app developed by Meta, is also experiencing a complete shutdown, displaying an error message upon launch.
Rapid surge in reports
Reports on DownDetector, a website that tracks internet service outages, surged rapidly for all three platforms following the onset of the issue. Despite the widespread user complaints, Meta has yet to acknowledge the problem officially.
Facebook is down, can’t access my account and so is Instagram
Social media users, unable to access Facebook or Instagram, have turned to alternative platforms like X (formerly Twitter) to express their frustration. Comments such as “Facebook is Down. Can’t access my account” and “Facebook Down/Instagram Down everything in Meta down” are indicative of the widespread impact of the outage.
The exact cause of the outage remains uncertain, leaving users and industry experts speculating about potential technical issues. Random logouts, password rejections, and error messages indicating expired logins are among the symptoms reported by affected users. This disruption extends beyond Facebook and Instagram, affecting Messenger and Threads as well.
